unusual behaviour?

would like to know if the behaviour of a moorhen i have just seen is unusual, i was just passing a local duck pond, when a moorhen flew over the park fence across the road and landed in a conifer in an adjacent garden, and it was obvious it was heading for the conifer and not crash landing into it by mistake, leave it for your comments,denn

Last year we had wood pigeons in a conifer next to our garden. They were trying to nest but with very little room..The conifer was tall and thin..They would often fall a few branches down the tree..Clumsy birds.

I have seen moorhens perched in trees, I have even seen one nest and raise young six foot off the ground
Maybe they do this when they fear threatened on the ground?

We have a local duck who sits on the roof of a four storey building with the gulls

I've seen many times Moorhens walking in upper branches of bushes near water. I once watched one feeding on blackberries in a bush.
