Goldcrest Visiting

Strangely for one of my posts I actually have a picture to liven things up a bit for once!



For the past few days I have had this delightful little fellow examining every branch of our stumpy old Christmas tree, singing all the while.

I do apologise for the quality-it was taken with a 5MP camera through a set of Opticron 10x25s in a strange digiscoping experiment that did not work especially well.

Have you got a better photo? I think I see a stripe through the eye, which could mean it's a firecrest, although it's very difficult to be sure from this shot.

Though not the greatest of photos it does definitely show a Goldcrest- there's no white supercilium + has that beady-eyed look in a fairly plain face that the Goldcrest shows.

Definitely a Goldcrest-I later saw it from about one foot away sadly without my camera.

I'll try to get a better picture if it comes back but I think the above is the best I'll get with the kit I have through a window.
