| | | Stonechat @ Aust Wrath, Severn Estuary Hey Everyone,
Went to Aust wrath again on Sunday, for people who don't it's the bit of land between the Severn Bridges.
As soon as we pulled up, the male Stonechat flow over to the bush we was at. Im assuming he's the same one as the severnside birds website reports only one for the past month.
With a short walk along the road we bet a keen birder, who was very helpful and let us see some great Birds through his scope.
I saw my first Reed Bunting which was nice. I have no idea how the guy spotted them
The Kestrel's were on top form hovering really close to the path and landing on the drift wood washed up nearby.
There was a Long Eared Owl the day before but was no sign of him on sunday. On the river edge there was Dunlin, Redshank, Oystercatchers, and Lapwings.
On the way back a Female Stonchat appeared and with the sun behind me it
just cried out to be photographed.
I would highly recommend this area for it's wildlife. It never lets you down.
Here are a couple of photo's of the Female Stonechat

Warths are areas of land either reclaimed from the Severn or left high and dry by a change in the river's course and are sort of the equivalent of salt marshes elsewhere and are at times flooded. I assume it's a Gloucestershire word...? |
