| | | Re: Recipie for Fat balls? Hi mealworm, you want to know how to make fat balls right.
first you want a block or two of beef dripping or lard, melt slowly in a sausepan, dont make it too hot just enough to melt it,pour into a large mixing bowl, add hand full of each of sunflower hearts, chopped peanuts ( not whole )any mixed bird seed you have, pour in some porrage oats to dry it up a bit,not too much so that its too stiff,as you add the oats stir it in,leave to cool so that it begins to set, stir well, then if you have some disposable gloves put them on,dont do what i did and use bare hands, the heat from your hands melts the fat and boy do you get in a mess, then you squeeze the mix togeather to make balls, line them up on a baking tray put in fridge over night, get your self a fat ball holder and away you go,also if you bag the rest up and leave in the fridge that keeps them togeather a lot better, good luck and have fun making them. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
