| | | Bird ID's please Hi everyone
I'm curious about two birds that I have nearlyseen!! Poor photos unfortunately.
The first one below I spotted across the far side of a reservoir when I scanned with a 500mm fixed lens with 2X multiplier. There were at least 3 of them but this was the one most in view. Some kind of wading bird?
This next one was when I was walking back to the car and was in a tree in the middle of a field - looked at least pigeon size. Only had 200mm lens on then. Could it have been a small hawk?
I haven't got much of a clue - you can say that again! However I am curious and wondering if a re-visit is worthwhile.
Cheers

| | Re: Bird ID's please You're right- the top bird is a wader- a Common Snipe.
The lower look's like a female Blackbird to me; depending on light conditions, a solitary bird may appear larger or smaller than it really is! |

Pity the Snipe were so far away and mainly well hidden - will have to try again and see if there is a nearer access point. I'm learning all the time thanks to this forum.

Looks like you've got a good little patch there tich, definitely worth visiting regularly through the year.
