cheers... neva seen them with such strange markings.. black with white chest.. odd! (was a full flock the same, not just 1, that's why i didnt think it was a throw-back). x |

Mallards are NOT manky 
I see more and more of these hybrid mallards every year, there is a nice black and white one on the local canal at the moment  |

True mallards are very nice birds particularly when the sunlight catches the head! And at least they usually stand still long enough for their photo to be taken!
Its just the mongrels I for one do not like. Especially the cross between a mallard and a white farmyard duck! | | |
