| | | Rufford Park and my Goldcrest quest. Today I went to Rufford Park. These day's that's the only place I seem to get to! The reason is simple,it rarely disappoints.
I was hoping as always to see a few Goldcrests as this is one bird I'm really struggling to get a decent shot of. I intended to take my flash with me, but I forgot..again!
Anyway, the Goldcrests didn't let men down. I saw 6 in total. One even came into reasonable range.
Here's a few shots of the bird.
Some of them would have been much better, IF ONLY THICK HEAD HERE HAD NOT FORGOTTEN HIS FLASH!! Yes, that's me shouting at myself. No one else will!
I also managed a few other shots:
A good day. I was hoping the Grebes would be showing some sign of activity, but here they're not yet. They're looking quite drab still, I think it will be quite a while before they start displaying.
Oh, just one more addition.
Some people think my Robin is too fat, I protested that he isn't; he just blows himself up to make himself look larger than he really is when he takes guard over the food I put down.
Just to prove my point, here he is pre-blow up!

Reason: addition.

| | | Re: Rufford Park and my Goldcrest quest. You definitely caught the crest nicely. I have difficulty tracking them with bins never mind being able to photograph these very active little birds.

| | | Re: Rufford Park and my Goldcrest quest. A very nice selection there Graham, those Goldcrests are pretty good, better than anything I've ever got.
You aren't the only one who forgets his gear. Left my quick release plate at home a while back. Had been using the camera at home on a hide clamp that screws directly onto the camera and forgot to put the quick release plate back on. Got around 10 mile down the road and suddenly realised I had forgotten it.
Don't blame you for spending time at Rufford, I would be there more often if it was a little nearer. In fact I don't think it will be long before another visit.

| | | Re: Rufford Park and my Goldcrest quest. nice work Graham and, as I just said in the Gallery, it's only a matter of time before you get one of these goldcrest shots spot-on
Are you sure that isn't a different robin?

Definitely not the easiest of subjects they move too frequently.
