| | | Tame robin - and photos Today I went to the local Wildlife garden to take part in the Big Garden Birdwatch. I took my camera and I didn't regret it. There was a very tame robin around. My camera is a Canon Powershot G6, absolutely brilliant for macro photography, but not great for bird shots. I fought with the focus in taking photos from the robin, the autofocus kept focusing the branches around the bird, even if it was set up for center focusing! and the manual focus is not sensitive enough for my taste. In one of the occasions the robin positioned itself quite low in the bushes and I approached quietly and started shooting. At some point the camera refused to focus and I had to set up the macro mode! I just couldn't believe it! I was less than half a meter away from it, I kept shooting, and the robin, as you can see, kept singing looking at me with curiosity, but quite relaxed. After 5 min, I had to leave because I couldn't hold my arms up with the camera any longer. I will definitely be back to pay a visit to this wonderfully tame robin. |

| | | Re: Tame robin - and photos Nice photos Africa, bet you were well pleased with these. They can be very tame sometimes. Guess this one is so used to people with it being in a wildlife garden. Probably gets fed pretty regularly as well.

| | | Re: Tame robin - and photos I'm pleased you found this Robin, you've proved what I've been saying for ages. You can't beat public parks for close up shots of birds, especially Robins!
It's quite a thrill to get so close isn't it?
Oh, lovely shots as well! |
