Paul | sewage farms are like giant bird tables for insectivores - There was a chiff chaff at a site all winter in Suffolk where I was working!
First Dunnock last week and first greenfinch yesterday and a goldfinch singing his heart out this morning from next door's willow definately courting on the cards....
beware the February cold snap.. |

I also had a pleasant surprise whilst out in the garden this afternoon re-filling some of my feeders in readiness for the RSPB Garden Bird Count - I heard the distinctive high pitched song of a Goldcrest coming from a Yew bush in our conifer border
Sure enough, on closer inspection I spotted it singing its little heart out only about 6 feet away from me. This is only the 2nd time in nearly 31 years that I've seen one in the garden.
It's been back and forth into the same bush several times during the afternoon so may be around for a day or two.
