Talking Oh happy day!

Oh I know, everyone here gets goldfinches. But here, where we get just about everything else, goldfinches are somewhat rare to our feeders despite being in large numbers in the area. Today was one of only two times they've come to visit the front garden feeders. So I thought I'd share some (noisy) photos and be happy for a bit

Re: Oh happy day!

Thanks for sharing those photos, Dae. It's always a pleasure to see goldfinches! I only wish they came into our garden more often.

Re: Oh happy day!

Nice shots Dae, despite the double glazing.

Yet to see one of these in our garden, seem to be a bit scarce in this neck of the woods.

Re: Oh happy day!

Lovely birds. Would love to see some in my garden. The last time I saw some anywhere near it was 8 years ago!

Re: Oh happy day!

I too wish they visited more often. They came back a few times today, both front and rear feeding stations. They're such a lovely bird, I wish everyone had these visiting them

Re: Oh happy day!

I have to say Goldfinches are my favourite garden bird. They first started to come to our garden when we planted teasels but now they come for the niger seeds. I am just starting to photograph our birds so it is nice to see someone else taking photos through double glazing.

Dae

If it is any consolation I have seen 1 in my garden in 7 years, we dont seem to get any finches at all. loads of sparrows, blackbirds, magpies, jackdaws, wood pigeons, robins, collard doves and starlings, but no finches

Re: Oh happy day!

They are wonderful birds aren't they?
Not just for their bold plumage, but because of their bubbly incessant chatter in my opinion...

Re: Oh happy day!

Doug, oh I adore their chatter! Where I grew up in the US, I spent a great deal of my life listening to american goldfinches which sound very similar. I never tire of it

John, we usually only get tits, pretty much all the types that show up in our area show up at our feeders. So I'm ridiculously pleased to see these sunny but rare characters.

Vince, are teasles hard to take care of? I'm not very good with plants, but I really like the look of them. Also would love to see what they might attract
