Yet to see one of these in our garden, seem to be a bit scarce in this neck of the woods.

| | | Re: Oh happy day! I have to say Goldfinches are my favourite garden bird. They first started to come to our garden when we planted teasels but now they come for the niger seeds. I am just starting to photograph our birds so it is nice to see someone else taking photos through double glazing.

If it is any consolation I have seen 1 in my garden in 7 years, we dont seem to get any finches at all. loads of sparrows, blackbirds, magpies, jackdaws, wood pigeons, robins, collard doves and starlings, but no finches

Not just for their bold plumage, but because of their bubbly incessant chatter in my opinion...

| | | Re: Oh happy day! Doug, oh I adore their chatter! Where I grew up in the US, I spent a great deal of my life listening to american goldfinches which sound very similar. I never tire of it
John, we usually only get tits, pretty much all the types that show up in our area show up at our feeders. So I'm ridiculously pleased to see these sunny but rare characters.
Vince, are teasles hard to take care of? I'm not very good with plants, but I really like the look of them. Also would love to see what they might attract |
