I had it down as a goldeneye originally untill i looked up goldeneye on the RSPB ID site and the beak looks wrong and no white patch on the cheek ,even the female is the wrong colour .but as usual i could be wrong,will check out my collins guide for variations |

According to the RSPB website those are the right colours for female goldeneye.
