Blackbird Nest Abandoned

I have a blackbird nest in my garage which lays directly above the door.
Thing is i am in and out of there often and when i look up at the nest
She looks quite frightened. I can't get near her from standing on the ground
But there has been a few attempts at her raising chicks which she abandoned
Then a few weeks later comes back and starts over.
When i come in and out of the garage is it worrying her or something?

Blackbirds are particularly fickle - they will build a nest very close to habitation (a neighbour showed me one recently, built very visibly in vegetation close to this back door, but the bird eventually abandoned the nest, leaving several eggs which were very close to hatching. Why they insist building nests in such public places, only to desert it after all that work, is beyond me. On the other hand we have placed a nesting box, well hidden from prying eyes and they have taken no interest in it whatsoever!

Hi A few years ago I also had a Blackbird nesting in a shed with at the same time a Robin nest. As I had to make frequent use of the shed I would warn the birds before I entered. Gentle clicking of the tongue seemed to be the most useful for the Blackie. Also I found that no direct eye contact helped. Both pairs of birds successfully raised their young and indeed if memory serves me I had to open the door to let the young Blackbirds out.
