| | | A White Christmas for one Robin Not sure if this has been posted before but I saw this and thought it interesting, Robin's Christmas is always all white | Metro.co.uk
While at Grigin in Wales, they told of a “white” Red Kite with the same condition. I wondered if any body else had seen any other Birds or mammal with leucism

This subject was also raised a couple of times on the old Yahoo BeastwatchUK group (now Beastwatch_files). I have seen a few white squirrels around these parts (Kent/Sussex coast borders) and it was wondered whether they were leucistic or albino. Difficult to say for sure at a distance, but I am 90% they were leucistic.

| | | Re: A White Christmas for one Robin My white-breasted robin isn't really "white" but he sure looks like he is. I filmed him having a bath in my bird-bath with an infra-red camera early one morning. It certainly makes him look pretty strange, and the water he is splashing in looks almost like mercury... Click on "white breasted robin" above to see the film clip.

| | | Re: A White Christmas for one Robin Thanks for all your comments about my film clip. It was a bit of a fluke really, but the effect is really strange... He is a sweety... always in the garden and getting into mischief when I'm gardening (and a real fighter....) Hope he is still here in the summer, so that I can track down his nest (he usually makes them in really stupid places, like at the foot of trees (doh!) and in paintpots...).
