today at martin mere i saw two peregrines chasing a wader of some kind and as they flew towards us they disturbed a buzzard which wasn't to pleased with the interruption especially as the decided the buzzard looked like a better meal,so they chased said buzzard across the mere continually dive bombing it until at the other side of the mere a kestrel got itself involved and after a bit of kerfuffle they decided to go their seperate ways leaving me the only one breathless and very glad of the spectacle.....aint nature wonderful

Sounds like an exciting time. However it's unlikely the Peregrines considered the Buzzard as a meal- what the Peregrines were doing would be mobbing it. Smaller raptors frequently mob + try to chase off other, often larger raptors, as they consider them as a threat + /or competition. Have to say it always gives great pleasure to us watching these altercations!
