I would say that every species has something appealling about it.
I'm certain that my choice(s) won't get the most votes, at least in part because they won't often be seen by people!
My 'vote' is for Nightjar - an enigmatic species, with an amazing (if not the most melodic) song. A summer evening visit to a suitable site is a real experience, and I find birds with intricate, cryptic plumage far more interesting than the brightly coloured ones.
Wryneck comes a very close second, with Corncrake perhaps taking third place. |

| | | Re: What's your favourite bird? I have two favourites, the first is the Long tailed Tit, cheeky little chaps and really cute, one day when I was out with the camera a youngster saw me, hid behind a leaf on the small branch he was on, then kept peering out at me, and slowly got a bit braver, I don't know who was watching who, but it was great
Then there's my Swift, they nest just down the road from me and I can sit out in my garden and watch them for hours, I tried to get some decent pics of them this year and I'm sure they knew what I was up to, I would be standing looking at a few in the distance, when suddenly I heard their loud screams from behind, then this whoosh as they flew just a few feet over my head and were gone If only they would hover a few feet from me, I'd be a very happy bunny
