| | | Re: bird species seen from your home? I've never actually done a count but the birds that we see on a daily basis are blue tit, great tit, house sparrow, blackbird, starling, magpie, crow, wood pigeon, collared dove and robin.
The ones that turn up less frequently but are still regular visitors that we see at least once a week are great-spotted woodpecker, ring-necked parakeet, long-tailed tit and grey heron (not actually in the garden but flying over or on a neighbour's roof). We also see various gulls flying over, usually too high to be certain of species but there are bound to be black-headed and common gulls among them.
Then we have two infrequent visitors which are green woodpecker and jay. The jay has been down several times in the last month but haven't seen the green woodie for at least six months.
The two bird groups most obviously missing from my list are the finches and birds of prey. I know that there are at least chaffinches and goldfinches in the local area because I've seen them within a mile of my house but never in my garden. I've also seen kestrel, barn owl and tawny owl locally and am reliably informed that there are sparrow hawks around too but have never seen any of these from the house.

| | | Re: bird species seen from your home? As with other replies, I have never made a morning list but we regularly do weekend day lists. My 10 year old son and I alwasy set the target at 30 and always make it well into the 20s but have only ever made 30 once. I think it was 34. Apart from all the regulars we have had Bullfinch, Spotted flycatcher, green woodpecker, goldcrest, little owl and willow tit. I expect the seen in the garden list is well over 40. The two birds we have expected to see but haven't are nuthatch and treecreeper! |

| | | Re: bird species seen from your home? We get the usual array of starlings, sparrows, blackbirds robins, tits and herring gulls etc, the kingfisher has been around too.
But, this morning was my first view of this bird. I think it's a snipe, but am happy to be corrected. |

| | | Re: bird species seen from your home? Like others, I've never done a 'morning' list but the birds I expect to regularly see/hear in or from our garden would include - Blackbird; Blue Tit; Carrion Crow; Chaffinch; Coal Tit; Collared Dove; Goldfinch; Great Spotted Woodpecker; Green Woodpecker; Great Tit; Greenfinch; Grey Heron; House Sparrow; Jackdaw; Jay; Kestrel; Long-tailed Tit; Magpie; Mallard; Moorhen; Pheasant; Robin; Rook; Song Thrush; Sparrowhawk; Starling; Tawny Owl; Woodpigeon; Wren + (in summer) - Chiffchaff; House Martin; Spotted Flycatcher; Swallow; Swift - and, of course, last but not least our 5 star daily regular - KINGFISHER
In fact my all-time garden list now runs to 71 species, but that is over nearly 31 years
