| | | Raven or crow?
Sorry about the poor image quality. I assumed the bird I was photographing was a crow or a rook, but when I enlarged the photo and saw the size of the bill, my immediate thought was that it was a raven.
Can some kind person clarify whether this is a raven or a crow? Thanks.

| | | Re: Raven or crow? I agree the plumage is very Crow like. I've seen several birds very similar this year, really big with a big bill but not enough feathering to be a Raven. The only definate Raven I've ever seen was in captivity which is sad.

| | | Re: Raven or crow? In my opinion it looks like a raven because of the beak on the crow its more slender and pointed whilst the raven is more fatter and blunt like a roman nose if that makes sense, this is one of the features between the two the raven has a larger beak than the crow and the feathers are a bit more scruffier around the throat area as well

| | | Re: Raven or crow? It looks far too small to be a Raven, they are big birds, so I'd say Carrion crow. |

| | | Re: Raven or crow? Correct me if I am wrong. My understanding is that Ravens walk, and Crows hop. This bird looks like it is walking. The picture looks to show the legs apart as if walking. . . . I would say it is a Raven.
