Re: Bird Quiz I.D.s - 4 for fun

1. Long eared Owl - plumage grey and appears to have 'crosses' in it. Altho I can see brown spots on primaries I think I can just about see a patch of yellow (tho it might be a leaf!)

2. Mostly Med gulls with a couple of black headeds - easiest/fastest character is lack of dark wing tips on meds!

3. Juv Night heron - not good with 'foreign' birds (or lesser woodpeckers it seems) think I can see spots on its back?

4. Immature blackcap - could be a male but I won't argue that! Its a dark-ish bird with few markings - the round-eyed expression gives it away as does the white eye circle - no eyestripes at all! Unless my eyes are deceiving me it has/is getting a dark cap - but that blackcap surprised expression does it for me!

Pass us that block again - me necks already outstretched

PS Chris - didn't go to feeding station weather and me not fit - will let you know as soon as I've had a look. PMG
