Birdhouse

I the last 3 weeks I have been noticing a couple of Blue Tits going in and out my birdbox.Although it has been there a couple of years this is the first time I have seen anything taking any interest in it.Surely it is the wrong time of year for this to be happening or maybe they are using it to keep out of the rotten weather we are having

Re: Birdhouse

Perhaps their just doing a rekky ready for the spring... either that or perhaps they're just checking it out for juicy bugs inside

Re: Birdhouse

Could be like stated they are checking it out or they may have been fooled by the warm weather we are having ,put it this way up here in the Highlands noticed today my Daffs are above the ground by about 3inchs never had it before even roses and Dahlias that where chopped to ground are stating to sproutnew growth with roses in bloom.

Re: Birdhouse

Just read A Country Diary by Trevor Bartlett MBE in our local Exmouth Newspaper. In it he refers to a reader who asked about wrens using her nesting box and he said that they use it to roost .He said that there has been found that up to 20 wrens will huddle together in layers in one box to keep warm.He also mentioned that blue tits are using his nesting boxes to roost too.How strange this was in today's paper in the same week I asked the question on here

Re: Birdhouse

On British Garden Birds it says that up to 60 wrens have been recorded roosting in one box!

I feel sorry for the ones at the bottom!
