| | | Re: Leucistic Birds have you seen any ? Black pigmented birds are especially prone to leucism so, unsurprisingly, as with the many others who've commented, I've seen many leucistic corvids and Blackbirds over the years.
However, a first for me a month or so ago, was a female partially leucistic Ring Ouzel (incidently the only one I've seen this year!). Just the head was largely white, rest of plumage normal for this species. |

The only one I have ever seen was this Goldfinch. Keep the odd look out to see if it comes back this winter. No joy as yet. |

| | | Re: Leucistic Birds have you seen any ? I have a photo of what I believe to be a leucistic finch of some kind. It is a ground feeder and is larger than the goldfinches which it accompanies at feeding time. At first I mistook it for a snow bunting but it was a sole representative of its type and outside the usual range of distribution. Anyone any ideas what it could be?
How do I attach a photo?

| | | Re: Leucistic Birds have you seen any ? Hi all...we had a leucistic goldfinch in the garden on Christmas Day. Its head and neck were completely white, and was one of about 30 that were on or around the feeders. I did get a couple of pics but they weren't very good. Still, that was a nice prezzie on Crimbo morning!
