| | | Re: Leucistic Birds have you seen any ? Many years ago I was married to a RAF Policeman!!!!! I used to visit the dog section where I often saw a blackbird which had a completly white head to the shoulders. He was known as Snowdrop, this being the not so nice nickname by which the RAF Police were known (their caps are white!)
I believe he was a second generation white cap.

| | | Re: Leucistic Birds have you seen any ? I saw a leucistic chaffinch on farmland near me a couple of winters ago; and I've seen leucistic carrion crows a couple of times, but I can't remember where or when. Plenty of crows and blackbirds with partial albinism over the years as well.

| | | Re: Leucistic Birds have you seen any ? Hi we had the excitement of photographing a leucistic Red Kite in Galloway in March this year while holidaying near Newton Stewart. We were making our way to Loch Ken above Castle Douglas when my partner Darren stopped the car to take photos of Buzzards and a Red Kite circling near a forrest. The Kite flew down and sat in a tree where Darren photographed it. We didnt know what bird it was untill we visited a Kite feeding station and asked what the pale bird was...........the lady at the nearby farm told us it was the only one ever noted in Scotland and had been sighted only on rare occasions. We hadnt realised it was rare at all so it made our holiday to have seen it at such close range and got four photos as prove. We have posted one photo in the Gallery for you all to take a look. Its inspired us now to go out and enjoy taking more wildlife photos and just enjoy exploring more of the uk countryside..................Helen Horrix and Darren Baines | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
