| | | Heron Fishing Photographs Anyone see the photo in today's Times of a Heron with a speared trout on it's beak?
If anyone doubts the need for patience in wildlife photography the guy who took it - Dennis Bright - reckons he "tracked it" (I'm not quite sure what he means by that) for more than 100 hours before getting the shot!
It's worth a look but I couldn't find it on the Times website so here's a link to the same story on the daily Mail site - Hungry heron spears his lunch - stunning pictures of the majestic bird hunting | the Daily Mail

I'm unsure about a heron fishing in the same area for 100 hours....... but I suppose its not beyond the realms of possibility |

| Hardly surprising with a grey heron. He probably spent 80 of those while it stood perfectly still doing absolutely nothing |

| | | Re: Birds in the news 1 The nearest I got was this one. which was taken some distance away with a 75-300mm lens. I was crossing a small bridge and noticed this one catching a large trout and got this poor quality photo. Just pure luck. |

| | | Re: Birds in the news 1 I was walking with my wife along the River Cam when she noticed a heron on the bank going down into the water. Just as I got ready, it took off and flew over the river and then fortunately went parallel to the river. I was lucky enough to get this with my Panasonic FZ20.
I too saw the amazing heron shot but in the Telegraph. I presume the photographer is a professional, very dedicated and earns a living from his work. I simply would not have the patience to sit for 100 hours.
