Buzzards in East Kent??,

That sounds lovely - horses and buzzards what a great combination. It's great to hear that buzzards are now as far east in Kent as Ashford. I'm hoping I'll have some more sightings soon near me, Sevenoaks way.

I go horse riding on Farthing Down/Happy Valley and regularly see a pair of buzzards and that's not too far from you - about 13 miles as the buzzard flies!

I am in Challock, Kent roughly in the middle of these sightings. I see them regularly, most often they fly west from Challock Forest / Kingswood in the morning, to the North Downs ridge over Eastwell. Probably good Rabbit hunting terriotory there. I have seen them fly in from the Wye direction and out toward Badlesmere. Usually there are three or four together. We have seen them since April last year, shortly after moving in and all year since especially sunny weekends recently.

This one was quite distant, but got this picture on Sunday 5th April '09

Hi SJH,

It was monday 9th, I was on the A251 just the Faversham side of the roundabout, the kite was over a field with horses in it on the left, about 100 meters past the roundabout. It was only approx. 30 feet high so a good view
and positive ID. best of luck, hope it is still in the area.

Hi we live in North Kent and have seen buzzards a few times, we are lucky because we have a warning system our local falcons mob any thing threatening, yesterday we were treated to a dogfight between them and a
kite by the time i retrieved my camera they were just specs.will keep my camera at hand in future.
