Some good answers so far - I'm impressed!
Shall we let it run a bit longer?

| | | Re: How many species? OK I'll come clean - no you haven't missed any. I just thought I'd leave it running in case anyone else wanted to offer any alternative suggestions. But your list mick... Quote:

10 for me ... | ...is everything that I know for certain is in the picture. I'm particularly impressed that people spotted the out of focus gadwall, and the black-headed gulls are not quite so obvious in their winter plumage. I spent about an hour and a half on the river front that morning and didn't see any coot although there were some moorhen about. It's possible that one or two of the blurry blobs right at the very top of the picture are moorhen.
Other species that could very easily have been in the frame but aren't (as far as I can tell!) are cormorant, grey heron, starling, snipe and grey wagtail. The first two would be pretty obvious if they were in shot but the last three could be in there somewhere... Quote:

This was taken on a "Winter Bird Walk" last Saturday morning organised by Karen Sutton, the warden of Crossness Nature Reserve. It's my local patch too - I can walk there in under 30 mins from my house.
