Smile Birds for ID - A bit of fun

I thought I'd try this. 3 not particularly good pics of 3 bird species for ID. (John and Aeshna5 and any other experienced birder - please do not ID. )

1.

2.

3.

Answers on a postcard...... Sorry just a bit of ID fun, they shouldnt be too difficult.

I'll go with Nuthatch for number 1.

No idea for number 2.

I also think that number 3 are geese but no idea which species.

Re: Birds for ID - A bit of fun

I think everyone got the first - Nuthatch.

The second is a Fieldfare - note the demarcation between the breast and underparts in that pic.

The third are Canada Geese - fairly long winged and long necked.

well done to all those that had a go.

Re: Birds for ID - A bit of fun

I will hold my hands up and say that there was a good chance that No. 2 may have eluded me. It certainly was a Thrush but I couldn't quite bottom out which one.

Re: Birds for ID - A bit of fun

Well I'm feeling particularly pleased with myself

The ID threads on this site are a great way for a relative noobie like myself to learn bird identification.

I could go through my Collins field guide and name every bird in there but naming REAL birds is obviously more challenging. These photos are a great learning experience.
