| | | Peregrine in Reading There seem to be quite a few 'Wabbers' in and around Reading, so this might interest those of you in that area... (again! )
Just walking home from work a few minutes ago, took my usual glance up at the big brown office block opp. the station, and THIS time (after weeks and weeks, seemingly, of no-shows), I timed it just right.
The big, adult Peregrine flew in and landed on a strut near the top of the building (just around the corner from it's usual roost).
Very nice views (even without binoculars / telescope). This is a big bird - I'd be fairly confident when I say that I think she is a she.
I'm home now - but she? flew in not 20 minutes ago.
Hope she sticks around for a wee bit longer again this time, or is joined by her partner again, soon.
Like I said, thought I'd let the Reading area Wabbers know once more...
Cheers

I would pop down there but this sudden heavy downpour is putting me off a bit and I wonder whether she'd still be there?

The sudden monsoon started a few minutes after I left her. She's out of the wind (or was) and if anything, that rain would've kept her rooted to her roost until it past...
I'll check again tomorrow morning, at around 7am and again 3pm
Doug
Ps Claire- just checked my records - I haven't seen a Peregerine myself at the station since JULY! (Though I know there are a few hunting around the area, like at Theale pits etc... and I also know one was spotted (and recorded) above Caversham 2 months ago, virtually to the day.
But like I say, take your chance asap to see this bird, because she may not be back for another 4 months! (Doubt it though - and lets face it I hardly look every day)!
