La Bardella - La Gomera Falcon

Hi,

I recently enjoyed a holiday on the small Canary Island of La Gomera where my family and I often visited a small bay called La Caleta on the north coast. On one ocassion I had the luck to see a pair of falcons locking talons and tumbling through the air, a feat I had only seen previously on television. The problem is that I did not have my binoculars with me and could not recognise the birds. The locals called the birds La Bardella (I think) and I was told that they were often out over the sea. I only associate Peregrines with this sort of location although my 8 year old son told me they were Eleonora's Falcons. I have since been told that neither are present on La Gomera so, does anyone know what they could of been, or better still recognise the name La Bardella? I saw plenty of Kestrels and Buzzards on the Island but these were neither.

The falcons in that area are Barbary Falcons not many left and nest on Tenerife and Punto de Teno
