| | | Sparrowhawk in my Garden I had been sitting home miserable as can be with the rain, then the black clouds making it impossible to go out to take any meaningful photos. What had made it worse was the fact that I had booked last week off from work with the intention of going to one of Britain's hot migration spots but the weather conditions (vitually windless) was not conducive to many birds arriving here so I actually went to work instead.
All of a sudden the sun came out briefly and I decided to go into the garden. As I went to go through the door what should I see but this cracker of a male Sparrowhawk sitting just above my feeders. Now that's timing.
It couldn't have been in a better position as the tree it was sitting under was covered in those beautiful Autumn coloured leaves and those, combined with the low sunlight and the Sparrowhawks colours, was definitely a picture waiting to be taken, so I took some.
The sun was shrouded out a bit but that only improves the colours in my opinion. If the sunlight had come through more parts of the body could have been bleached out than already have been.
Now that's timing.
Apart from the close up the others haven't been cropped and the colours are as I took the shot.
I love the shots and I hope you like them to.

| | | Re: Sparrowhawk in my Garden Glad you liked the photos folks. I must admit I am a tad chuffed at my timing as there has hardly been any sun since I took these photos.
