| | Help? Mac compatible solid-state mp3 players with headphone socket for birdsong Hi Peeps,
Been so busy, simply haven't had time to upload anything, sorry.
Do any of you experienced bird folk know of a robust, Mac compatible, solid-state, rechargeable-battery powered mp3 player that has a standard 3.5mm headphone socket for battery-powered portable speaker output?
This is purely to have some kind of small, portable device with external speakers for birdsong .
So many of these gazmos and gidgets have FM radio, video playback, microphones, cameras etc.... it drives me nuts
All I'm after is a simple mp3 player. NOT AN iPOD!!! (they're too unstable and break down a lot )
If anyone can come up with one that does the job, has enough memory (4 - 8 GB) (ok, I don't mind if it has radio), I will offer one of my botanical (mainly orchid) prints from my website at http://www.jonathantyler.co.uk absolutely free!!!
Off to Titchwell Marsh, Norfolk on Sunday for waders and who knows what else...
My best to you all,
Jonathan |

And yes it does work on Mac - it just shows up as a removable USB drive that you can drag and drop your files onto. The spec are for the Windows Software that comes with it though you do not need this to make it work.

Thanks for your help. In fact I discovered from my niece about the Creative players, she showed me one and it seems fairly robust. I don't know if it's an acceptable practice to play birdsong back in woodland where there might be schedule 1 species like Crossbill, though, will need to find out about that. Maybe the whole idea is a bit overcomplicated. More to carry! Just an idea.
Best,
