| | | Mute Swans It was a really beautiful day here today....took the camera with me while walking the dogs down by the river and was able to get some half decent pics of the swans. They nested down there this year and when I first saw them with the cygnets there was five of them, down to three now but they look good and strong. Its been great to watch them grow.
We get Whoopers and Bewicks here during the winter but no sign of them so far...

Thanks for the beautiful photos of the mute swans - they are some of my favourite British birds and I always think they look magnificent swimming along in a group!
What kind of camera did you use to take the swan photos? What other birdlife do you get around your home? |

I am very lucky where i am at, there are such a lot of animals and birds that can be seen quite easily, there are also otters on that same part of the river and I would love to get some pics of them....

| | | Re: Mute Swans The Swans seem to have done very well this year, we've had a couple of families on the river where I walk the dog, only one seems to be there all the time though and they've also got 5 cygnets. Sometimes there's a brown goose with a white head with them and it looks comical as if its trying to blend in with them, further up someone has a few free roaming pet geese and they are often sat near the bridge on the bank and they like a swim in the river and this one has latched onto the swans, as they drift up and down, they seem to get on ok, although I have seen the male send him packing if it gets a bit too close. Over the weekend they had moved further on and 1 cygnet was on its own sat on the reed bed at the side, would it be a male that had been left to fend for himself, it seemed ok as was swimming later on in the day, not seen any of them this morning yet. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
