| | | Where has all the birds gone again!!!?? The same thing that happened last year seems to be happening again, the birds have just disappeared. Since the weather turned a little colder my Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Black birds, dunnocks, Wrens have all gone A-WALL. And to top it off the large number of House Sparrows I had a few weeks ago have halved in numbers. I've noticed that they are very careful about coming in my garden and feeding, instead they very quickly fly in, grab food and scarper. I think that's maybe because the SparrowHawk is now more active I've noticed.
Just spent a fortune on bird food as well. |

| | | Re: Where has all the birds gone again!!!?? Fantastic, a sparrowhawk is always a good indication of whether your bird feeding station is successful All my lot are stuffing themselves senseless, I came home today and 3 feeders are close to empty ! Early start for me tomorrow to make sure they've got brekky lol.

| | | Re: Where has all the birds gone again!!!?? I think mine are used to Sparrowhawk visits, they dissapear until the hawk has gone and then they are back out again very quickly.

| | | Re: Where has all the birds gone again!!!?? Hi Birchy
I too have noticed not many birds in my garden at the moment and the local hawk is hunting loads here at the moment. 4 times i saw it in one day and that was just on the apple tree.
They will be back for the food you have brought im sure!

The Coal Tits just seem to feed continuously and are the first to go back to the feeders after I have filled them. The Blue Tits however aren't so far behind.

Our biggest eaters are Greenfinches. They'll sit on the feeders all day and let nothing else near. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
