| | | Which fruit would you suggest I put on my bird table. I would like to offer the wild birds some fruit and ideally the best place would be on the bird table. Have you any suggestions which type of fruit they will be tempted by. I have seen fruit offered when I have been in bird hides but I've been so busy taking shots I forgot to look what fruit was there. Thankyou |

Mind you, to use that lot would cost a fortune! |

Barbara, also try a few soaked sultanas or raisins and anything that has 'gone over' and is no longer suitable for the humans in the household. Never offer dessicated coconut but fresh should be OK. I am sure you will soon find what the local birds prefer.

(the ones with insects are favourite though)
I put out small amounts until it is obvious wether or not it will be eaten the rest of the fruit is mine! small amounts will be good for insects if allowed to ferment quietly in a corner

But I will try the soaked sultanas and raisins, but I'm glad you told me to soak them first because I would have put them out straight from the packet |

I bought some apples today but I'll have to wait for them to soften, but I'm sure they will enjoy them eventually must remember to add bananas to my shopping list (even though I can't stand the smell of them) |

Also we put out red and green grape left overs which the Starlings seem to go mad for......then again Starlings seem to go mad over anything. |

When I think back, I can't believe all the old fruit I have binned and not put it to good use instead. With the grapes it will more likely be a case of ... three for me, one for you, four for me, one for you, and that goes for the strawbs too |
