Swallow on BBC Nature's Calendar Website

Just thought that members might like to know that three pics that appear in my WAB gallery have been selected for the BBC Nature's calendar website. The three photos are of a young swallow; a Small Tortoiseshell and a speckled wood. Here's the link.

Re: Swallow on BBC Nature's Calendar Website

Excellent John - congratulations!

Love all three shots but the speckled wood is my favourite (even if the Beeb did call it a moth!). I've never seen a butterfly shot quite like that one.

Re: Swallow on BBC Nature's Calendar Website

Oooo there open for winter shots. Now if I can just rescue the shots of the the ducks in the snow from last winter of my nearly dead computer...

And to John: a personal comment by chris packham is something to 'casually' bring up in conversation

Well done John, all superb images. You forgot to mention the small fact yours was the overall winner!

Thanks for the comments. I also really like the shot of the speckled wood butterfly (the Beeb not me got it wrong) and I was well pleased to get it as it was a much more difficult shot to get than the swallow. Nonetheless the swallow is still a nice image and it wasn't yawning as the Beeb said (wrong again) but was calling for its mother and wanting to be fed.

Re: Swallow on BBC Nature's Calendar Website

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Whilst it's nice to see my shots on the BBC website, I'm still much happier to see my shots appearing on the WAB website.

Nice one John, and great comments from the Beeb. Two photos in the final five. You must be chuffed to bits!

Congratulations John, a well deserved accolade for you with some great comments from Chris Packham. I've been an admirer of your photos since first seeing them start to appear on WAB.

Re: Swallow on BBC Nature's Calendar Website

I can only endorse what has already been said John, all three photographs are great, the young swallow is superb, it deserved to win. I keep going back and looking at it, wonderful capture.

Well done,

Carol.

Fantastic shots John. I hope that viewers of the Nature's calendar site see the rest of your pics on WAB and your site and realise that those pics are no fluke, but just a few of your hundreds of great photos

Re: Swallow on BBC Nature's Calendar Website

Thanks everyone for the very kind comments. I think I value such comments from WAB members more than anyone else.
