| | | Let's Have some Sounds! Some of you may not be aware that you can upload any sound recordings of bird song you may have.
Have a look at the Gallery page and there's a Sound section.
I've had a song thrush recording there for some time, it's getting lonely!
Surely someone has recorded a blackbird, or a Robin, or anything!
Preferred format would be WMA, but MP3 would do as well. Just browse to your file, and give it a name and we can all hear your wonderful local bird life!
If you've not got anything but have a compact camera, it's something else to get when your out and about! My song thrush was recorded with my Canon S1IS, so any camera that records video or audio will do the job. |

| | | Re: Let's Have some Sounds! Yes it's a jolly good idea.
It can be done on the movie section of a camera, you don't need to even make a movie of the bird so long as the sound is there just turn on movie fore a minute, you can then extract the sound from the movie file and delete the file keeping the sound convert it to MP3 and there you have it Just the birds song or the ducks quack , what ever you wanted the sound of |

| | | Re: Let's Have some Sounds! Hi glsammy and Beryl.
I've just uploaded 3 clips. Hope they're suitable.
I've just started sound recording, so don't have a very large ore very good quality library - yet!
It's an interesting side to wildlife study. One thing I've already noticed is how much human-related sound there is which we don't notice because our clever brains just filter it out. Cars, planes, trains, dogs...
The only solutions I've thought of so far are to find a very remote location (not so easy), and to get up and out recording very, very early.
