| | | Fine Feathers I have noticed that a lot of birds: robin, tits, finches etc. appear to have a few fine feathers high on their backs that always seem to stick out. Is there a name for these funny additions to the more obvious functional plummage? |

It is probably due either to moult, growth or general wear and tear on the birds plumage as it goes about its normal daily life.
