| | | Re: coal tits No. Our garden has been very quiet. We had a juvenile robin a few weeks ago and before that probably 6 weeks ago 12 long tailed tits, nothing since even our lone gold crest has left us. We do have several pigeons and a handful of sparrows. I'll try a suet tray and see what we can entice back.

| | | Re: coal tits Coincidentally, the coal tits were the first to reappear after I stopped putting out food in the summer - in fact, they probably didn't go: saw them a few times picking insects off the shrubs.
Otherwise, first to reappear at the feeder were nuthatches - looks as if they raised a brood succesfully. Quote:

No Coal Tit yet, but parties of Long-tailed Tits passing thru garden in past 10 days or so. This morning a flock of 11 + a Marsh Tit. Cheers

| | | Re: coal tits Ours have been very quiet last few months cos builders moved in. I dug the concrete off our decimated lawn few days ago and put new top soil on, hence robin returned yesterday. All feeders now replaced and great/blue tits returned on weekend. No sign of my 2 coal tits as yet or the dunnocks/finches. both male and female blackbirds have been eating from the rowan for 2 weeks now and I've heard a wren early in the morning for a few weeks also. I love the build up tho to returning birds

| | | Re: coal tits Glad some are doing better than me with small birds in garden. We had 2 trees blown down earlier in the year (Trees were in next doors garden and not replaced)and this as made a big difference as they used them to perch in before swooping on the bird table. No sign off the blue tits we had a lot in spring while they raised their young.

| | | Re: coal tits I can certainly hear them before I see them lol! They have such a piercing call and like all tits they can't keep still for a second. I've been lucky enough to have Coal, Great and Blue today and seen a large flock of Long Tailed in the woods by the quarry! They certainly all love a suet feeder and peanuts.
I'm very jealous that you've had a Gold Crest BWD! |

Baruar | The Coal Tits, Blue Tits and House Sparrows have never left the garden. All three nested in boxes around the garden and those nearby. All three are regular visitors to the feeders.
