| | | Re: rare bird Not so much photographed but held whilst working for the RSPCA has to be a corncrake and then a hobby, and this was in London!!! I must admit I felt very priviledged, they have to be my highlights of the 7 years I spent working there no pics thou they left to go to wildlife rehab almost as soon as they came in! |

This was taken in Cornwall. It refused to come close enough to be photographed properly. It was with a flock of small black sparrow size birds possible males. This looked similar a female sparrow. |

| | | Re: rare bird I'm 99% sure that this is a male Linnet. Any advances.
Certainly not a rare bird to most birders but certainly is to one that has never seen one before.

I suppose possibly the rarest bird globally that I have photographed (and even a small video of it) was the Rainham Marshes Sociable Plover from Jan 2005.

| | | Re: rare bird I was honestly expecting to see some rare bird photos on this thread but even though we have talked about them no one (me included) has actually attached one to the thread.
I will kick start it with this photo of a Green Heron taken at Red Wharf bay, Anglesey on 20/11/2005.
