| | | Autumn Birdwatching Hi.Anyone got some plans for good bird-watching as the Autumn draws near? Anything spectacular, a must see situation or just whatever arrives or departs.
Once our youngest is installed in Manchester Uni, it'll free up a bit of weekend for some serious wild life watching, but it's got to be dirt cheap for the next 7 years!!

| | | Re: Autumn Birdwatching Over the next few weekends my priority visits will be Spurn, Cornwall, Norfolk with possibly Portland Bill this weekend.
I may have a weeks holiday in October in Cornwall to try and maximise the migration around that area.

| | | Re: Autumn Birdwatching The Avocets are arriving back in Poole Harbour in pretty good numbers now, so soon I will visit the reserve on Brownsea Island. I visited around this time last year and the opportunity to photograph waders is excellent as you have Avocets, Greenshank, Redshank, Oystercatcher, Grey Plover and sometimes others within a few feet of the hides!

Jules | Morecambe Bay is not too far from you. Great for wader numbers that will start to build up.
Any good estuary for waders. Decent headlands for seabirds and migrants. e.g Flamborough Head, Gibraltar Point....
Cheers,

We had a juvenile Great Grey Shrike turn up on the reserve the other day. It caused quite a stir. I managed to get a view too.....oh and Spoonbill.
