Black Stork - Anglesey, N.Wales

Hi all,

Couldn't find anything on this on the site - so please forgive me if I am repeating old data.

There is currently a black stork on Anglesey, on the Afon Alaw, (only one in the UK)

It has been here for the last 4 weeks and seems to be enjoying itself. Has been spotted in many places in the area, but likes the estuary on the Alaw near Llanfachraeth.

Good bird to see in UK. Some years back I did a few years of twitching, but now only if it's in local area + able to use public transport, but I did see a Black Stork on Brading Marshes on I.O.W. I've seen a fair number abroad, but they are never numerous.

I had a very distant view of a Black Stork over the Blyth estuary in Suffolk in August 1998.

My only UK record of a rare bird here.

Anglesey .... a long way from home but I am tempted!

Have seen 2 of these in the UK, 1 in Devon and the Blyth Estuary bird. Also a few in Spain. An excellent bird to see here. Good luck if you go. Cheers
