Swallow Roost

Hi, Have just been watching a flock of 250+ Swallows feeding over the garden and as it started to get dark I noticed they were going down presumably to roost in a field of Sweetcorn that backs onto the garden. Eventually all the Swallows had gone down into the field. I know they roost in reed beds on migration and I suppose sweetcorn is a good alternative. Has anyone seen this before? Cheers

No Paul, I've not seen this, but as you suggest, sweetcorn structurally isn't that different to reeds, so I guess would make a suitable alternative roost site. Great to watch that number of these aerobatic masters. Just need a Hobby to add even more drama!

2nd evening running a flock of Swallow has roosted in a field of sweetcorn at the bottom of my garden, slightly less this time. Just under 200. Cheers
