When are Kingfishers most active?

I recently saw a Kingfisher in my local park, it was a fleeting glimpse as it flew down the river, I was surprised as it is really more of a stream than a river and it is quite polluted!

I want to go back to photograph it however I have not seen it since.
Is the a time of day that is best to see Kingfishers active?

Outside of the breeding season its best to get them early morning. They usually have a favoured perch. So if you can track that down you should get a good pic. Cheers

I agree, whenever I have managed to photograph or see a Kingfisher it's been early morning. That's not to say they aren't about later in the day though. Just my personal experience.
