| | | Re: First swallow's and martins My Mrs saw a Swallow at the edge of Leamington Spa on Monday and Tuesday Morning and Sand martins are coming in thick and fast around us as well. A few House Martins have been seen also.
Now, don't laugh but my Mrs rang me on Saturday whilst I was at Whitacre Heath to tell me that a Swift was flying around the house and had been doing so for about ten minutes. Now I find that hard to believe but my Mrs knows her birds.
I rang up RBA but they said they would be embarrased to put that out for fear of ridicule so they just put it out as a reported bird.
That has to be a month early at least if it is correct.

| | | Re: First swallow's and martins I keep looking but I've not seen any Martins or Swallows yet.
They are being recorded in the county now.
I did see an Osprey yesterday morning, most likely one of the Rutland water birds returning - there are 4 Ospreys back there already. |

| | | Re: First swallow's and martins I popped into Fowlmere RSPB (Cambridgeshire) after work today, and after a quiet start (30 birds in the 1st half-hour - that's birds, not species!), I ended the evening well with my first Swallow of the year. Hurrah!
