Pretty bad news for a species that was starting to recover, there are always some clowns around that still have their heads in the past, instead of trying to work alongside something the coward kills it, makes me so mad. .

Absolutely outrageous! I feel sick that I'm a part of this so called 'human' race sometimes.
Hope the culprit is caught and has the book thrown at him/her for this.

I know, wish i could just pour an entire bag of poison down there throats. I just carnt believe this is happening, and such a large quantity of birds being killed.

without excusing this outrage i have to say that it is likely that the GE wasnt the target - often poison bait is put down for foxes or harriers (and yep thats illegal too) but claims other victims - thus the problem with poison - perhaps it should just be banned entirely (tho people would only use other subs like glycol)

Good point, hen harriers were almost pushed to the brink. Lots of species are at risk with this sort of non selective control, needs banning to be fair.

has this happend befor then,who ever is doing this should die a horrid death like that beatiful bird,why o why is this happening,what has gone wrong with this world all you hear on tv is doom and gloom,i hate it so much it makes me ashamed of the human race,if you can call them human that is.

Yes it happened alot in the past the persecution of birds of prey has left population numbers devastated, now it is less active but still goes on, species such as hen harriers, red kites, golden eagles, white tailed sea eagles being hit the hardest in the past, BUT it is still a problem, further down in the report it does state the Scottish problem, gamekeepers and farmers are often the people blamed as these birds do occasionally take livestock and game although its not worth this sort of action.

its a sad fact in bird conservation that with birds of prey there's a lot of historic attitudes to overcome. certain agencies simply refuse to accept that BoP persecution still goes on, even though in certain areas there are now no longer any breeding birds of prey. they've been wiped out.

no it is not worth killing a beatiful creature ,they only take to servive like us with lamb,beef and pork not that i eat it,what i am trying to say is the small amount that they have is only tiny compared to what we eat so whats all the big fuss about,its all down to greed.
