Bird Visitors (with photos)

Yesterday I had two very charasmatic birds visit my garden They are regular visitors but I got my best photos of each species yesterday and they are below . I am going out to try and get some decent Kingfisher photos today so i will let you know how i go

Very nice pictures.
I have to ask..on your sparrowhawk picture it is standing on one leg, and a picture i took in close encounters thread that one is standing on one leg too
Do you know why they do this??

Thanks Jen as to your question I had noticed but I have no idea as to why maybe our resident experts could enlighten us

Sorry to be butting-in here, but I have wondered that too! I have a couple of resident robins, one of who always stands on top of the wall (awaiting his mealworms) while on one leg. I thought it was because they want to rest the other leg, or to warm the other leg/foot/claw?

Lovely photos vinnychameleon How did you get on photographing that Kingfisher? I've only had a Sparrowhaw visit my garden and I didn't even see it. My partner woke me to tell me it had been sitting by our feeders!

The one we took it was cleaning itself and looking around!
Maybe nothing to do with it but was yours?

Great shots. I've yet to see a Sparrowhawk . They are supposed to be common but I've never seen one, even though there is plenty of prey for them round here.
