I have just bought 75kilos of Sunflower Hearts and 25 kilo of Mixed seeds. I also have a few other seeds that I am currently using as well plus whole peanut and kibbled peanut. On top of that I have fat balls, home made fat blocks (full of seed and fruit) plus other suit mixes and dried mealworm, plus plenty of water.
I have masses of birds feeding on the seeds still so I am keeping the seeds going throughout the year.

| | | Re: what to put out! Yep, I've still got babies coming but I can't put any food out atm as I've still got the poorly Greenfinch with Trichomoniasis. Nearly caught the bird with hubby's fishing net yesterday but missed. Was going to take it to the vet to have it put to sleep and also take the disease out of circulation, but anyway I digress... I'm still feeding the blackbirds raisins, but only when they come to the back door for them! |

I still put out seeds and fatballs, the birds get through them just as quicly as during the winter. I put out soaked bread which the Sparrows love, plus sultanas for the Blackbirds. |

I know what you mean about the pigeons .
I had loads of starlings eating everything so i put food out for them in the morning and when its gone they move on to someone else's garden.
Try putting a few more seed feeders out for smaller birds and the pigeons can't get to them.
