| | | European Serin (Serinus Serinus) Hi all,
I'd like to host some European Serins in my live plants aviary (height: 3m, width:2m, depth: 3.5m) which already hosts 2 canaries. I was told and even read that they are really difficult to breed. Is
there anyone who can give me some good tips\opinions\ first-hand- experience about these serins, like; best plants\trees they tend to opt for, types of nests, seeds they eat, anything I should be always aware of, when do you think they'll breed provided my climate (I'm from Malta, just above Africa - Mediterranean Climate) etc...?
Help is greatly appreciated as no deep info is available on the web (at least I didn't hit the type of website I was looking for)! Any kind of knowledge, experience and opinions are more than welcome!
Thanks in advance,
Alan |

| | | Re: European Serin (Serinus Serinus) Sorry but for me WAB is all about Wild birds and wildlife in general.
I don't mean to upset you but I abhor caged birds. They should all be free flying.
I personally think you should seek out a caged birds site. They should help you but I urge you to think again about caging Serins. They are a wild bird and should remain so.

| | | Re: European Serin (Serinus Serinus) Isnt it illegal to cage wild birds in this country??
We went to a store to buy wild bird feed a few days ago and I was disgusted at the amount of birds that were caged, I wanted to open them all up and let them fly free - but that would have been silly because there were parrots and all sorts of exotic birds...nothing wild should be caged, except the "wild" human |
