They're feeding on sunflower hearts.

| | | Re: goldfinch The photo was taken with a Canon 400D and a Sigma 175-500mm lens ( the poor mans birding lens).
There are so many cameras about now - it's a case of how deep are your pockets !!
I think the most popular cameras are Canon or Nikkon at the moment.
You should ask on the photography forum they're a knowledgable lot and so helpful.

| | | Re: goldfinch Wow that photo of Goldfinches is lovely, they really are beautiful little birds I've had a Nyger seed feeder up for about 3 months now and nothing touches it..... We get loads where I work though, I hear them all day. Lovely sound they make! |

| | | Re: goldfinch My Niger seed feeder is occasionally used, mostly by less frequent visitors, Greenfinches and Goldfinches, they both also like the Sunflower hearts. The birds which really love the Niger seed in my garden are the Siskins when they arrive and they are a joy to watch. It is worth leaving the feeder up if only for their appearance. |

| | | Re: goldfinch Well I agree with Rolf! My niger seed feeders are a great hit with Goldfinches and the adorable little Siskins
The greenfinches prefer sunny seeds with their shells on as do my lovely pair of Bullfinches that have been visiting recently.
Just be patient and they'll come sooner or later The problem I find with shelled sunny seeds is that the Starlings will wolf them down so fast before anything else gets a look in.
Btw, I've got some super shots of birds on my feeders using a Panasonic DMC-FZ8 with a Lumix lens. It's got a brilliant zoom facility and is a point and shoot jobby which is great for me!
I'm still getting to grips with trying to load some of my pic's up, but I hope to get some on very soon. |
