Red-Breasted Geese

Just got back from my hols in Jersey and thought i'd show you these guys. I saw a flock of perhaps 20 at Durrell which i guess don't really count to be wild but these were taken at Lion Park and i'm pretty sure i saw some on St. Ouens pond, i was on a bus at the time so i can't be sure. Maybe Durrel sent some to Lion park or they are spreading of their own accord. Any ideas?

I also have pics from Durrell (Bald Ibis, Pink pigeon, Red-crested turaco, Yellow throated laughing thrush and others) but not being wild in any way i didn't think to upload them. If anyone wants to see them let me know.

Yup, a beautiful bird, lovely colours. You could always upload some of the shots of the other birds into your gallery via the 'Forum Images' section. You don't have to then post them in a thread but we could all have a nosy

Re: Red-Breasted Geese

Lovely birds. They do regularly turn up as escapes from time to time, sometimes with wild geese. To confuse matters for twitchers is that each winter a small number (usually less than 6) of genuine wild birds often arrive here from their Siberian breeding grounds with carrier species such as Dark-bellied Brents, though there's often debate over which are deemed wild.

Last winter there was a pair in Norfolk/ Lincs area + another in dorset which were generally considered wild.
