| | Lake District bird identification I recently went camping in the Lake district and saw a brid that I was, and am still unable to identify. Unfortunately I did not manage to take a phtotgraph of it. It was a light brown on it's back and wings and cream/white belly. When it flew I noticed that it had a white tail with a black chevron on it. It was smaller than a blackbird in size.
I have looked online and in several bird books and have not been able to identify it; does anyone have any idea what this might be? |

| | | Re: Lake District bird identification Hi Oryx13, we are a little short on info here, habitat would help i.e. on the lake shore, grassland, scrub or forest. Was it in the farmed valleys or up in the hills, and info on its behaviour would all help.
Just as a stab in the dark have a look a juvenile Wheatear, if not give us some moe information and I am sure someone will be able to I.D it for you |

| | | Re: Lake District bird identification Have looked a couple of pictures of female and juvenile wheatears and they look as though they might be the ones. I saw then on the grassland and scrubland as you ascend the mountains: would this habitat fit with the identification? |

The juveniles will be very speckly compared to the females. I should think there'll be quite a few wheatears around in the Lake District.
