| | | Cheeky Magpies.... The magpies in our garden are getting really bold!
We feed our oldest dog on the back step as she likes to sit outside if the weather is nice, sometimes she doesnt finish her dish and the little feathered fiends having been coming right up onto the step and helping themselves! Ive never seen them so close to the house or so cheeky!
They have also been giving the local cats a really hard time this year, buzzing them and screaming their heads off! We certainly know very quickly when there is one anywhere near the garden! |

Each time the dove finished eating the magpie returned only to be pushed off again by the dove after a few seconds. In the end the dove cleared the table of food. So bold and cheeky the magpies may be but this dove was determined to get the upper hand!

I know what you mean - they get some rotten press but I love them to bits! They are such comedians and so funny........
The cats are terrified of them, 5 minutes ago next doors black cat fell off the fence after a pair of them buzzed him shrieking like demented things!
But I must admit - I think in terms of cats I have the safest bird table I know....Ive got a European Eagle owl who is called Beebo and is 2 years old - the bird feeder bowl etc hangs on the shed right next to her aviary and the actual water bath and big feed bowl is on the roof of the aviary - the local cats wont come anywhere near her! The birds seem to have worked out she cant get at them and my feeders do a roaring trade most days! Ive gone through over 100 fat balls, loads of peanuts and I dont know how much seed this month!!
She blows herself up like a beach ball and screams blue murder if a cat appears on her turf! Scares the wits out of them! Very effective deterrent! |
